OrangOrang: The Project
OrangOrang is a fashion label based in Bali, Indonesia, offering socially responsible
clothing and fashion accessories (jewellery, bags, belts) for women and children. The
human dimension is central to this project: teaching transferrable skills; providing safe
environments; and paying all involved a fair wage for their efforts. A better future can
be made available by enhancing the well being of people who live in the small communities
in developing countries.
We combine traditional local knowledge with modern global creation and taste. while using
certified organic fabric and vegetables dyes, all of our efforts are put into improving
our use of ecological materials. In this regard, we aim to be a leader within the industry;
showing the world that "Real Beauty Is Ethical".
Our production is guided by the concept of sustainable development. A business can make such a difference in the lives of people and the
protection of the environment, while also growing in a sustainable way. Therefore, as
technology and fashion evolve, so will we regarding social, environmental and economic
issues.

"A small body of determined spirits fired by an unquenchable faith in their mission can alter the course of history."
--Mohandas Gandhi--Social Responsibility
Our definition: living, creating, producing, and developing products conscious both of nature and humans in this moment; thus ensuring both us and future generations are able to enjoy healthy, harmonious living.
Commitment To People
OrangOrang means 'People' in Bhasa Indonesian. We know that by working together and helping each other, we can attain a better quality of life for all inhabitants of the earth. We work as a team, supporting everyone in the supply chain to gain more skills, responsibilities, education, better standards of living, fair wages, long term health, and security. Its also important for us to promote the conservation of traditional craftsmanship knowledge in Indonesia and beyond.
Commitment to nature
In everything we do, we seriously consider the potential impacts on our environment. As the consumer becomes more educated and demands better products, the technology for us to provide them with these will also improve. Thus, we will constantly try to use more and more ecological materials, as well as operate using processes that are as environemnentally friendly possible. For now, we focus on this by using: 100% organic fabrics, natural dyes, recycled paper, and our production line is committed to recycling, re-using, and limiting use of water or harmful products.

"If we are to teach real peace in this world, and if we are to carry on a real war against war, we shall have to begin with the children." --Mohandas Gandhi--
OrangOrang and Street children
OrangOrang works with the NGO Yayasan Kasih Peduli Anak (YKPA). YKPA works with street children in Bali and has an open a home and school for them. However, giving this chance to street children is not the answer to stopping the increase of them in the street, nor will it help them long term. Instead, we need to work at the root of the problem: the requirement of financial resources for these disadvantaged communities. Thus, we are (among other things) using OrangOrang products to create opportunities for them. In our workshop, adjacent to the Yayasan, we are using all the activities involved in the production process to help teach transferable skills; in doing so we develop small businesses and sustainable economies in rural areas. This will not only alleviate long term poverty, but works to reduce the exodus of children and women from their villages and into the cities. Lastly, a percentage of our sales goes directly to the YKPA. So when you buy our products, you make a real difference!
